Overview

Innovation Cell is a platform that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity among students, faculty, and staff. The primary objective of the Innovation Cell is to encourage and support innovative ideas, provide resources and mentorship, and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry.

Walchand College of Engineering (WCE) has established an Innovation Cell to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity among students, faculty, and staff. The Innovation Cell at WCE aims to provide a platform for students and faculty to develop and refine their innovative ideas, provide resources and mentorship, and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry. WCE has also been ranked among the top institutions in the country in the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) ranking, recognizing its efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students, faculty, and staff.

The institute has setup the Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (WCE-IIE) Cell during the academic year 2015-16 with the following objectives:

  1. To foster awareness of innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurship among WCE students and faculty.
  2. To provide a platform for transforming ideas and projects into developed products and commercial ventures.
  3. To offer pre-incubation space for ideation and prototyping.
  4. To nurture pre-incubates in their journey towards establishing startups.
  5. To assist pre-incubates in securing funding and financial support through various government schemes, venture capitalists, investors, and industries.

Activities

  1. Project Contests / Hackathons
  2. Assisting students for participation in innovation / project contests/internships.  
  3. Idea Generation and Screening: Organize workshops, ideations, and hackathons to generate and screen innovative ideas through idea validation camps
  4. Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship and guidance to students and faculty to help them develop and refine their innovative ideas.
  5. Prototype Development and Testing: Support students and faculty in developing and testing prototypes of their innovative ideas.
  6. Incubation and Acceleration: Provide incubation and acceleration support to startups and innovative projects, helping them to scale up and commercialize their products or services.
  7. Provide technical and financial support to students and faculty for protecting their intellectual property through IPR processes.

The Innovation Cell at WCE has organized various activities, including workshops, ideations, and hackathons, to generate and screen innovative ideas. The cell has also provided mentorship and guidance to students and faculty to help them develop and refine their innovative ideas. The Innovation Cell at WCE is playing a crucial role in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity among students, faculty, and staff, and providing them with opportunities to develop and refine their innovative ideas. 

IIE Ranking

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) ranking is a prestigious recognition of an institution’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The ranking is based on various parameters, including:

IIEC team

IIEC is headed by Dr Ajeet Patil. Dr Ajeet is Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering with UG and PG from Shivaji University and Ph.D from IIT Roorkee. He is recognized Vibration Analyst Category II, certified by Vibration Institute USA. He has been actively involved in consulting various sugar factories, paper manufacturing units, Kirloskar Pumps, NTPC, ONGC etc. in the field of Vibration measurement and analysis. With an objective to encourage entrepreneurship at WCE, he has been actively coordinating with alumni, investors and industry experts and students. With a vision of making the Entrepreneurship cell at WCE one of the preferable place for innovators to start their entrepreneurial journey, he has been actively involved in setting up the startup ecosystem at WCE.
