The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Walchand College of Engineering (WCE), Sangli, established in 1986, is a pioneer in offering quality education in computing and IT. Leadership

Dr. Anil R. Surve
(Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering)

Dr. Anil Ramchandra Surve, head of the Computer Science and Engineering department, is an alumnus of the same institute. He completed his bachelor’s as well as his master’s in the Computer Department. He has achieved a Ph.D. (Computer Science and Engineering) in the area of Context-aware Smart Pervasive Computing system for energy conservation. Before leading the department, he shouldered the associate dean ‘student activities and development’ role as well as ‘joint training & placement officer’ role effectively and worked on various significant committees of the institute as well. Passionately he has taken initiative for establishing ‘IoT innovation centre’ at institute to encourage learners to experiment on real life smart IoT solutions. He has 28 years engineering academic experience where he has dealt with most of the Computer Science & engineering core and emerging courses. He has mentored more than 900 under graduate and 65 post graduate student projects on the latest innovative technologies. His research publications include 29 papers in national/international conferences and 48 in international journals with more than 195 citations. He has filed four patents and three copyright. He has been actively instrumental in mentoring various workshops, conferences and student organizations with industry liaison. Keenly he has rolled out professional skill development training for the student community. He has delivered motivational sessions on pedagogy to nurture novel learning aspects in various engineering schools. Under his creative Transcend initiative, YouTube podcasts of star achievers success stories are revealed for juniors. Twelve years back he started SITAC (Social IT Awareness Campaign) initiative to raise awareness of the importance of IT for unprivileged school students through ACSES (Association of CSE Students) of Walchand college of engineering students’ volunteers. More than 14000 thousand school students and their respective teachers are benefitted by this social initiative. He is also proactively instrumental in extra-curricular activities & social initiatives for the unprivileged communities through WCE student fraternity.
