A New state of art Library worth 4,680 sq.mt. Constructed is a generous donation
received from “Walchand Hirachand Memorial Trust” Mumbai and renamed as “Ajit
Gulabchand Central Library”. The spacious library of the college holds the
total collection of reading material 107859 including 56383 Books, 13064 Bound
Volumes of Technical / Non-Technical Journals, Magazines, 38412 Book Bank Books
accumulated over last six decades. It subscribes to 90 Technical, 8 Science and
7 General Journal / Magazines. This library is member of INDEST under which we
receive 36390 Online journals including IEEE(464), IEEE Conference(19407), ASCE(36), ASME (30), Science Direct(275) and
nlist.inflibnet.ac.in (6000) and 2325 e-books and
nlist.inflibnet.ac.in (3135000).
Library is having Membership of DELNET, New Delhi for Inter
Library Loan, Reference facility and document delivery
services. Library is also participate N-LIST Inflibnet
program through membership for e-journal and e-books.
RFID Technology based Library Automation with Koha: Library
Management System:
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) provides for
“sightless” or no line of sight identification of items. It
includes the ability to facilitate circulation, re-shelving,
and theft detection, and it has several other important
advantages. It can either replace or supplement existing
library bar codes.
RFID in Library RFID has the potential to speed up library
services and streamline time consuming operations such as
check in – check out, sorting, stock management and
inventory
RFID Technology provides number of advantages for a library
kind of environment.
RFID products are used in A.G.C. Libraries:
1. Staff Station for Circulation Desk: is used for issue
return of library materials, entry of new material to the
LMS etc.
2. RFID Handheld Reader: is mainly used in stock
verification of books which can be done in hours instead of
days with handheld reader system. It can also be used in
searching a particular book by taking the reader to library
racks.
3. Security Gate Antenna System with two pedestals: are
placed at exit gate of the library to keep check on
unauthorized books going outside. It will have a read range
Up to 1m.
4. Smart Card Registration Reader: is a small reader for
registration of Smart Card or can be used at the time of
Tagging/Registering of books.
5. RFID Enabled Self Check-In – Check-Out Kiosk: is an
independent touch screen based kiosk for borrowers to
perform issue-return functions on their own
6. Middleware Software: It is a customized application to
interface data from various RFID hardware products to the
existing library management system
7. RFID Book Return Intelligent Trolley / Smart Book
Shelves: are used for returning of books while books are to
be placed on shelves with RFID antenna.
8. RFID Tags: (For books, journals, magazines, CD’s etc),
Smart Cards: is to be applied on each and every book. They
are available in various form Factors
9. Mifare Cards for ID: Pre-Printed Mifare cards for ID
cards, these can be used at self-check in check out station
to issue books independent of any human Intervention CD Tags
CD tags are RFID tags to be applied on CD’s, these are
specially designed in circular form factors.
Book Bank Facility: Library issue 1200 to 1300 book sets
under book bank schemes. Free Book Bank Scheme is available
for students & Books of book banks can borrow according to
the merit of the students.
Reading Hall Facility: Reading Hall facility is
available round the clock for full year and provides study
room facility during normal and extended hours.
ISTE Library Award 2019 : ISTE Library Award 2019 is
conferred upon walchand college of engineering, Sangli on
5th January 2019 in recognition of creation of Excellent
