The Civil Engineering Students’ Association (CESA) organized a guest lecture on the topic “Assessment of Fire Resistance and Fire Damage to a Building: Theory and Practice,” delivered by Dr. Kishor Kulkarni, Senior Scientist at CSIR – CRRI and Assistant Professor at AcSIR, Roorkee. With a Ph.D. from NITK Surathkal, Dr. Kulkarni is an expert in fire-damaged concrete structures and building retrofitting. The event began with a welcome by the anchors and Dr. D. S. Chavan, Staff Advisor of CESA. Dr. Kulkarni shared valuable insights on designing fire-resistant buildings and assessing damage after fire incidents, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The lecture was followed by an interactive Q&A session where students actively engaged with the speaker. The session was highly relevant and informative, addressing current challenges in fire safety and structural engineering. It sparked innovative thinking among students and enhanced their understanding of the topic. More than 100 students and faculty members attended, making the lecture a successful and impactful academic event.

AAKAR 2k24, a national-level technical symposium organized by the Civil Engineering Students’ Association (CESA) of Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, was held from October 18 to 20, 2024, under the theme “UDGAM – Source of Sustainable Innovation.” The event aimed to enhance students’ on-field technical skills, teamwork, and management abilities. Over 1100 students participated enthusiastically in 11 major competitions, a workshop, and three school-level events. Key events included Founder’s Arena, Civilens, Yuvasansad, Hirewave, Prastuti, Structosticks, Buildcraft, IASpire, and Miniverse. The school-level events—Artistic, Brainwave, and Funky Fun Factory—added diversity to the program. A workshop on “Sustainable Technologies in Construction” was conducted by Er. Sudhir S. Hanje, providing valuable insights into eco-friendly materials and methods. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Dr. D. S. Chavan and Mr. C. S. Kotibhaskar, where winners received awards and all participants were given certificates. CESA Secretary Miss Sanika Patil and President Mr. Ganesh Pergad played key roles in the event’s success. Overall, AAKAR 2k24 contributed significantly to students’ technical growth and career readiness.
On 5th September 2024, Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm to honour Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s former President and a renowned scholar. The Civil Engineering Students’ Association (CESA), in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Department, organized the event to pay tribute to all teaching and non-teaching staff. Anchored by Harshawardhan Patil and Chinmayi Bargale, the program began with a warm welcome and Deep Prajwalan by Dr. G. R. Munavalli, Prof. H. P. Kulkarni, Prof. C. H. Wagh, and Mr. Ganesh Pergad. CESA President Ganesh Pergad addressed the gathering, emphasizing the legacy of the celebration. Final-year students felicitated faculty members with gifts as a gesture of gratitude. Speeches and performances by students, including a heartfelt speech by Payal Pise, a poem by Pragati Kolhe, and a drama by second-year students, highlighted the invaluable role of teachers. The performances were well-received and appreciated by the audience. Dr. G. R. Munavalli shared his thoughts on the event and gave valuable advice to students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Anjali Dhakate, Associate Secretary of CESA.

On the occasion of Republic Day, 26th January 2024, the Civil Engineering Students’ Association (CESA) of Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli organized a heartwarming social activity at Pathak Orphanage, engaging with children aged 6 and below. The objective was to spread joy and create lasting memories for the kids. The event began with introductions between the children and CESA members, followed by impressive speeches, poems, and stories shared by the little ones. A particularly memorable moment was a 4-year-old delivering fluent speeches on Children’s Day and Independence Day. Coloring activities were conducted with sketches and crayons provided by CESA, bringing visible happiness to the children. Snacks and sweets were distributed, and outdoor games were played, creating a fun and joyful atmosphere. Miss Sanika Patil, Chief Secretary of CESA, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the opportunity. The orphanage manager appreciated the initiative and welcomed more such visits. Over 40 participants, including CESA board members and the orphanage staff, were involved. All children actively participated and enjoyed the activities. CESA members gained meaningful memories, making it a fulfilling and impactful experience for everyone involved.

SAMANVAY 2025 was organized on 19th April to spark interest in building planning and design among Civil Engineering students and to recognize the efforts of second-year students. The event began with breakfast, followed by an inauguration in Classroom 19, attended by Dr. K. S. Gumaste, Dr. D. S. Chavan, faculty members, and students. A mini-exhibition named Sthapatyarekha showcased hand-drawn and AutoCAD sheets of municipal, furniture, electrification, and plumbing plans. Held in the Drawing Hall, projects were evaluated by a panel comprising faculty, third-year, and final-year students. Students were judged on presentation, drawing quality, and subject understanding. A detailed viva followed in the seminar and meeting rooms, where the committee offered feedback and suggestions. The event helped students improve research, presentation, and communication skills. It provided a platform to showcase technical and non-technical capabilities. SAMANVAY 2025 was well-organized by CESA and appreciated by all, inspiring excitement for future editions.
