Students Development

To enhance technical exposure and professional development, the department actively supports student chapters of leading professional bodies such as ASME, SAE, ASHRAE, and ISHRAE. Through these chapters, a variety of workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities are conducted regularly.

Our students enthusiastically participate in prestigious national and state-level competitions such as M-BAJA, E-BAJA, Efficycle, SUPRA, ACREX, and Go-Kart, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and technical prowess.

In addition, students of the department have formed the Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), which plays a key role in organizing a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular events. These include weekly club sessions, aptitude tests, and guest seminars by eminent professionals from industry and academia. Every year, MESA organizes a state-level technical symposium called VERTEX, which brings together students from across the region to participate in a range of competitive and knowledge-sharing events. VERTEX aims at the holistic development of students by nurturing their technical skills, leadership qualities, teamwork, and social responsibility.

The department has successfully implemented a scheme under the Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), which has significantly enhanced industry-academia collaboration. Through this initiative, students and faculty members actively engage with technologically deficient Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), providing them with valuable technical support and consultancy. This real-world exposure enriches the students’ practical understanding while contributing to the growth and modernization of local industries.

In addition to TIFAC, the department is also supported by the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission (RGSTC), Government of Maharashtra. This scheme aims to promote applied research, innovation, and technological development in higher education institutions. Through RGSTC funding, the department is able to undertake impactful research projects strengthen linkages with industry and society.

Together, these schemes have played a pivotal role in fostering practical learning, research-driven innovation, and technology transfer, making the department a key contributor to the region’s technological advancement.

Internship from reputed industries such as DRDO, Dassault Systems, Cummins, HAL, John Deere, Blue Star, Siemens, Atlas Copco, Thermax etc. are offered to the postgraduate students. So student can join these companies and complete his/her dissertation work at respective industry.
