Working Professionals

WCE has been awarded permission by AICTE , Shivaji University and State of Maharashtra to offer BTech and MTech courses for Working Professionals. The biggest advantage of this is professionals / engineers / executives / supervisors can pursue these programs while doing their job.

Eligibility

In addition to qualification and eligibility for candidates eligible for respective Professional Education Post Graduate Courses Candidate shall have following additional requirements for admission to courses for working professionals, namely: –

  1. The candidate shall be working professional in Registered Industry or Organization (Central or State) or Private or Public Limited Company or Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) located within fifty(50) kilometer radial distance from the Institute.
  1. The candidate shall have Minimum of one Year Full time or Regular working Experience in the prescribed format available at CET website in Registered Industry or Organization (Central or State) or Private or Public Limited Company or Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s).

Additional notes 

  • The mode of Conduct of Classes shall be as applicable for Regular Programs as defined in the AICTE Public Notice Vide. No. AICTE/AB/Academic/2020-21, dated 13th August, 2020(In Regular Face to Face Mode).
  • Minimum admission required to run the course shall be 1/3 of the approved intake in each course.
  • One seat in every Institute shall be Reserved for Candidates working in the Central Government Organizations or Industries or Companies or Autonomous Organizations purely on MERIT Basis. In absence of any such Candidate, the vacant seat shall be transferred to General Category.
  • Working Professionals provisionally admitted in a course of the institute where total admissions in a course are less than 1/3 rd of approved intake of the course after pre cut-off date for admissions shall be transferred strictly on merit basis in the nearby institute within 50 kilo meter radial distance from the working industry or organization in the same course or different course in case vacancy exists in nearby institutes on the request of the candidate.
  • Provisional Admission of the candidate shall be cancelled automatically if the candidate is not able to secure the admission on merit against vacancy in other institutes.
  • This process of transfer shall be carried out between Pre cut-off date and cut-off date for admissions to working professionals.
  • Institute having admissions below 1/3 rd admissions after Pre cut-off date has to refund full fees to the candidate in case of cancellation/transfer of admission immediately within two days of cancellation or transfer of admission
  • Any other eligibility criteria or requirements declared from time to time by the appropriate authority and AICTE as defined under the Act.

Centralised Admission Process (CAP)

The Centralised Admission  Process (CAP) is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. The admission process involves the following steps:

  1. Registration_: Candidates must register online for CAP on the official website.
  2. Document Verification_: Candidates must verify their documents at designated Facilitation Centres (FCs).
  3. Option Form Filling_: Candidates must fill in their preferred college and course options in multiple rounds ( CAP1, CAP2, CAP3 etc)
  4. Seat Allocation_: Seats are allocated to candidates based on their merit and preferences.
  5. Reporting to College_: Candidates must report to the allocated college to confirm their admission once student confirms allotment through CAP

Fees

Since there are self-finance courses , Fees  are as decided by Fees Regulatory Authoriity of state of Maharashtra.

Policy and guidelines for working professionals’ courses in Walchand College of Engineering for engagement of classes , examination etc

  1. This will be a full-time regular program, but timing will be adjusted as per the convenience of working professionals
  2. The program will follow the same structure as the usual full-time program, including the curriculum and credit requirements. Students will adhere to the same academic pattern and will take the same examinations as their full-time counterparts.
  3. The lecture engagement will differ from the regular programs
  4. This will be a separate division as called ‘W’ 
  5. Every Monday to Friday on all working days, a minimum 2 hours of lecture engagement will happen on the premises or through online mode via VC or equivalent platforms
  6. The online platform will be used only for the delivery of lectures and attendance shall be recorded.
  7. Laboratory work and tutorials will be conducted on Saturday and/ or Sunday as per the department’s priority
  8. It will be ensured that in case Saturday is working for students in their employment at least half a day concession shall be granted
  9. The laboratory or tutorial engagement to the tune of 8 to 14 hours shall be engaged on weekends in offline mode only.
  10. As with other students and ordinances applicable to them.  100% performance in lab sessions/tutorials is mandatory and requisite attendance in theory lectures in online/offline mode is also mandatory
  11. The teachers teaching this load will be remunerated   as per college policy considering this as an additional load and  supporting staff also shall be given additional remuneration as per the policy
  12. For Any seminar/project/mini project /slash research project a preference shall be given to the project from the employer organization. During project mentoring/guidance, the student is expected to report in person on campus at least once a week fortnight along with a progress report and the rest of the time online. 
  13. In case of the provision of internship, their experience in the employer organization shall be considered equivalent
  14. Any initiative towards employability shall be extended to these students also in case students wish to enroll for it however students will not be offered any employment assistant/opportunity as they are working professionals, and their employer has supported joining this course so it is expected that the benefit of additional knowledge of post-graduation should be first utilized in the current organization
  15. The engagement on public holidays shall be compensated by taking additional load with the mutual consent of students on some alternative days.
  16. No separate arrangements shall be made for terminal examinations. Students will appear along with regular full-time students. Mid-Sem exam and other assessments may be re-aligned to weekends or other alternative media.
